The Back Story:
Dice Head
Set roughly in between the Fort Point and Pumpkin Island lighthouses, the long-deactivated Dice Head lighthouse rests at the mouth of the Penobscot River near beautiful and historic Castine, Maine. The white, granite rubble stone tower was built in 1829 along with the original, one and a half story wooden, colonial-cap keeper’s residence. It was deactivated in 1937 as a navigational aid.
About the Artist: Paul M. Bradley Jr., an architect by profession, began drawing lighthouses after a New England vacation sparked his interest in the structures. His drawings appear quarterly in the Keeper's Log, a publication of the U.S. Lighthouse Society (www.uslhs.org).
