The Back Story:
Grays Harbor
Grays Harbor Light was built 1898 in the town of Westport, Washington. The city was a major logging port in the late 19th century and by the completion of the lighthouse, more than 50 ships had foundered near the entrance to the harbor. The tower stands 107-feet tall, making it the tallest lighthouse in the Washington State. Grays Harbor Lighthouse was automated in the late 1960’s and serves as a historical landmark to the Westport community.
About the Artist: Paul M. Bradley Jr., an architect by profession, began drawing lighthouses after a New England vacation sparked his interest in the structures. His drawings appear quarterly in the Keeper's Log, a publication of the U.S. Lighthouse Society (www.uslhs.org).
