The Back Story:
Old Sodus Point
The Old Sodus Lighthouse is a three story stone block structure. Built in 1825, the station resided on a bluff overlooking Lake Ontario. In 1870, the original structure had deteriorated and was thus replaced by the square lighthouse you see today. Old Sodus Lighthouse was decommissioned in 1901, rendered obsolete by the light at the end of the nearby pier.
About The Artist: Paul M. Bradley Jr., an architect by profession, began drawing lighthouses after a New England vacation sparked his interest in the structures. His drawings appear quarterly in the Keeper’s Log a
publication of the U.S. Lighthouse Society (www.uslhs.org).
