The exquisite imagery of a butterfly is one of Nature’s most enduring pleasures. Butterflies are popular design motifs in every culture around the world. Butterflies were depicted in Chinese and Egyptian paintings as long ago as 3,500 years; they graced the decorative borders of mediaeval manuscripts. The mysteries of their life cycle, from caterpillar to flight, enchant us, and because they cannot bite, sting or carry disease, butterflies have earned their place in man’s affection.
