The Back Story:
A Grand Beachfront Resort
The historic Hotel Del Coronado, across the bay from downtown San Diego, is both a national treasure and a popular destination for vacationers, business travelers, celebrities, and dignitaries from all over the world. “The Del” opened its doors in 1888, an elegant resort facing a broad expanse of beach. The red-roofed Victorian “castle” overlooking the Pacific Ocean has been a backdrop for television and feature films. The hotel even has its own resident ghost – a beautiful young woman found dead there in 1892.
About the Artist: Jim Krogle, a graduate of Chouinard Art Institute, has enjoyed an extensive career as an American Illustrator. He now follows his true passion painting the beach and surf scene he grew up with. Visit www.jimkrogle.com.
