The Back Story:
Anclote Key
The Anclote Key Lighthouse sits on the southern tip of Anclote Key off the coast of Tarpon Springs at the mouth of the Anclote River, on Florida’s western coast.The lighthouse was completed and first lit on September 15, 1887. It stands 110-feet high and has a range of 19 nautical miles. In 1952, the light was automated making the old tradition of keepers, obsolete.
About the Artist: Paul M. Bradley Jr., an architect by profession, began drawing lighthouses after a New England vacation sparked his interest in the structures. His drawings appear quarterly in the Keeper's Log, a publication of the U.S. Lighthouse Society (www.uslhs.org).
