The Back Story:
Point Iroquois
This Point Iroquois lighthouse was first illuminated on June 8th, 1856 and it’s fourth order Fresnel lens shone over one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world from the entrance to the St. Mary’s River and the Soo Locks of Lake Superior. The 65-foot tower soon became obsolete and was deactivated after the Point Iroquois Lighted Buoy #44 was installed off-shore in 1962.
About The Artist: Paul M. Bradley Jr., an architect by profession, began drawing lighthouses after a New England vacation sparked his interest in the structures. His drawings appear quarterly in the Keeper’s Log a
publication of the U.S. Lighthouse Society (www.uslhs.org).
