The Back Story:
Stonington
The Stonington Harbor lighthouse is the second lighthouse to sit on this site. The lighthouse was built in 1840 using some of the materials from the original 1824 lighthouse. Stonington was deactivated in 1889 though the keeper still lived there until 1908. The Stonington Historical Society purchased the structure in 1925 and operates a museum inside.
About the Artist:
Paul M. Bradley Jr., an architect by profession, began drawing lighthouses after a New England vacation sparked his interest in the structures. His drawings appear quarterly in the Keeper’s Log a publication of the U.S. Lighthouse Society
(www.uslhs.org).
