The Back Story:
Atlantic Puffin
The Atlantic Puffin lives primarily in the North Atlantic Regions. Also known as the Common Puffin, its most obvious characteristic is its triangular shaped beak which becomes brightly colored during the breeding season. The official bird of Newfoundland and Labrador, the Atlantic Puffin can reach speeds to 55 m.p.h. It feeds mainly by swimming underwater catching small fish and can dive to depths of 200 feet.
The Artist, Roger Hall, has been working as a scientific illustrator for over ten years. His work has appeared nationally in books, magazines, brochures and advertisements. Roger is also active in conservation and environmental education.
