The Back Story:
Taijitu - Yin/Yang
A well-known symbol from Chinese culture that represents the principle of yin and yang. Yin (receptive, feminine, dark, passive force) and Yang (creative, masculine, bright, active force) are descriptions of “complementary” opposites rather than absolutes. The outer circle represents “everything”, while the dark and light shapes within represent the interaction of two energies, called “yin” (dark) and “yang” (light). They are not completely black or white, just as things in life are not completely black or white, and they cannot exist without each other. Most forces in nature can be seen as having Yin (feminine) and Yang (masculine) states, and the two are usually in movement rather than held in absolute stasis.
