Horse Galloping
The Back Story:
The Galloping Steed
Oh the beauty of beholding a sleek horse in full stride! Averaging between 25 to 30 miles per hour, their muscle clad legs gracefully propel them forward in their effort to quickly cover as much ground as possible. In nature, a horse’s speed is essential for outrunning predators. A gallop is also the gait utilized during the world’s most prestigious horse races. Humanity has been fascinated for centuries while cheering on their favorite horses to victory, or observing a horse run lickety-split in pasture. Weighing on average between 900 and 1100 pounds, the average horse can usually gallop for one to two miles at most.
