The Back Story:
The Musky
The Musky, or Muskellunge, is a very popular game fish. Many anglers dedicate themselves almost exclusively to its pursuit. This elusive fish rarely ventures far from cover, preferring shallow heavily vegetated waters less than 40 ft. deep, in slow moving streams and rivers along rocky shorelines.
It was believed that there were at least four species of Muskellunge, but it is now considered to be one species with the exception of the Tiger Musky. Muskies are native to the northeastern United States, throughout the area of the Great Lakes south to Georgia, and north to Quebec and Ontario in Canada.
