The Back Story:
Nice Ride!
Everybody loves a Woodie – the classic “surf-mobile” of the beach culture. Wood bodied station wagons made in the 30s-40s were basic transportation for surfers in the 1950s-60s, with plenty of room inside for a throng wave-seekers and their boards.
Originally, these elegant wagons were popular people-carriers for hotels and families – the “sport utilities” of the day. Today’s restored beauties are the stars of classic car shows, with price tags many times higher than their original sticker price.
About the Artist: Jim Krogle, a graduate of Chouinard Art Institute, has enjoyed an extensive career as an American Illustrator. He now follows his true passion painting the beach and surf scene he grew up with. Visit www.jimkrogle.com.
