The Back Story:
Amish County News
The Pennsylvania Dutch who settled in Southeastern regions of Pennsylvania, are made up of various Christian religious sects. By establishing their own communities, they preserved their customs and individuality.
It’s not news to the Amish, but many people mistake them for being among those who originated the colorful folk-art of Hex Signs. The Amish belong to a particular religious group that practices a very strict, unadorned way of life.
The plain-living Amish have not painted and do not paint Hex Signs on their barns. Although it’s true that the Amish people may be Pennsylvania Dutch, not all the Pennsylvania Dutch are Amish.
