The Back Story:
Drum Point
The Drum Point lighthouse was built in 1883. Soil accretion eventually connected the once-offshore lighthouse to land. Over time it became the victim of vandals and sat neglected. In 1975, it was moved to the grounds of the Calvert Marine Museum. At one time there were 45 cottage style screwpile lighthouses on the Chesapeake Bay. Today, Drum Point is one of only three that survive. It is open to the public
About The Artist: Paul M. Bradley Jr., an architect by profession, began drawing lighthouses after a New England vacation sparked his interest in the structures. His drawings appear quarterly in the Keeper’s Log a
publication of the U.S. Lighthouse Society (www.uslhs.org).
