The Back Story:
Nobska
The first lighthouse built at Nobska Point in 1828 was a typical Cape Cod-style structure with an octagonal lantern on top of the keeper’s house. In 1876, due to the high traffic of vessels, it was rebuilt as a 40-foot cast-iron tower lined with brick and given a fourth order lens. The Lighthouse is maintained by the U.S. Coast Guard as an aid
to maritime navigation.
About The Artist: Paul M. Bradley Jr., an architect by profession, began drawing lighthouses after a New England vacation sparked his interest in the structures. His drawings appear quarterly in the Keeper’s Log a publication of the U.S. Lighthouse Society (www.uslhs.org).
