Moose - (Alces Alces)
Bull Moose may consume up to fifty pounds of forage a day to restore fat reserves and nourish antler growth. Moose’s antlers are covered in velvet during spring and summer to nourish and protect their growth, which at its peak can be more than an inch a day. Moose feed mainly on willow, aspen and cottonwood leaves, as well as grasses and plants found along streams and rivers.
